Herbert G. McCann was born and raised in Chicago. 

Educated in the Chicago public schools, he is a graduate of Columbia College, Chicago.

He was mentored by Alfred Duckett, Jackie Robinson's biographer and speechwriter for Martin Luther King.

Herbert G. McCann is a long-time journalist, currently an editor, and occasional reporter, for a major wire service.
 
Greenwood is his first novel. He lives in Chicago with his wife and two sons.
